One can’t deny that Oppo has grabbed all the attention with the official launch of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro on 18th January 2021 and simultaneously also expanded its Reno series in India with flamboyance. The coming of Reno 5 Pro in India is remarkable because of multiple reasons and Oppo has made sure to leave no stone unturned to brag. And why shouldn’t it? Not only is the Reno 5 Pro the first 5G smartphone from the brand, but it has also gained popularity for being the first MediaTek Dimensity powered 5G smartphone to launch in India. Hence, the limelight is obvious.

But to make it more realistic, one must understand the pros and cons of the device in terms of use-cases to check whether it’s worth the price or not. After going through a lot of online blogs and viewing multiple reviews from technology experts, I have gathered a few points about what the Oppo Reno 5 Pro brings to the table, and personally what appealed to me. Let’s go through all the factors sequentially.

The brand has adopted the ‘Reno Glow’ design for the device, which ensures a feeling of premium. Among glass and metal, plastic is one of the materials used for the phone but it is hardly felt.

The Astral Blue and Starry Black colour variants are truly phenomenal, and add more zing to it.

It is extremely light at 175gm and measures about 7.6mm in thickness, which ergonomically forms a good grip.

The integrated MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G processor is certainly a cut above any flagship offering from Qualcomm or Samsung, and the benchmark scores are impressive. With the integrated MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 technology, it makes for a good gaming platform as well.

In addition to this power-packed processor, it integrates an impressive full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) OLED 3D curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Comes with a 64-megapixel rear camera array + 32-megapixel selfie camera housed in a hole-punch cutout and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

With a focus on the cameras, especially videography, the phone brags features like AI Highlight Video for detailed and bright videos, dual-video mode to make videos using rear and front cameras simultaneously, AI Color Portraits to highlight certain colors in black/white outputs, AI scene enhancement, Night flare portrait and more.

It is backed by a 4,350mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging and runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1.

There’s no denying that the spec sheet is truly admirable and honestly speaking, apart from the absence of a telephoto lens, there’s hardly anything missing. And that’s fine by me because the rest of the camera enhancements even it out. If you’re expecting me to say that the cost of Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G is one of the cons, you’re surely going to be disappointed. It even packages an earphone within the box, so no complaints with the packaging contents as well.

It is great to see that premium brands like Oppo are also bringing flagship features at a reasonable price of INR 35,990.
