Artificial Intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines. John McCarthy introduced the term in 1965 and ever since it was introduced, it has grown immensely in various ways unimagined. Companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and a lot of others have brought this intelligence into our daily lives. We are now talking to Alexa and getting wonderful replies. Even after all these implications, newbies have different kinds of myths about AI.

Let us discuss most talked about myths about Artificial Intelligence:

AI learns from itself — AI can be defined as computers or robotic systems capable of processing information the same way human beings learn, make decisions, and solve issues but it can only gather limited information. It keeps on learning on a day to day basis.

AI can remove human preference from decision making — Intelligent decision support systems have the capability of taking such decisions which can be better in diverse ways but it cannot surpass human intelligence. We need to understand this. AI needs good quality data to process it and give you meaningful results.

Artificial Intelligence is the same as Deep Learning or Machine Learning — They are not the same. AI is the parasol under which these technologies come. AI learns a pattern by the data provided and that is machine learning. “Machine Learning is a technique of parsing data, learning from that data, and then applying what they have learned to make an informed decision.”

AI will lead to the destruction of the servitude of the human race — It’s highly unlikely anyone would think about building or stationing a self-sufficient machine with the potential of being detrimental to the creator itself and turn against its creators. The development is to make the world a better place and various protocols are in place to prevent such actions.

AI will displace humans and make jobs archaic — We all have been there when we started realizing that automation will reduce the number of human contacted jobs. We felt the same way when machines were introduced. But as a matter of fact, it helps in creating more jobs than eliminating. As per the latest survey, AI will create more than 2.5 million jobs.

Conclusion

Artificial Intelligence has always been questioned about its rapid growth and vast possibilities and is this advancement good for us? AI can only learn what humans can teach to them. It does not have the emotional intelligence which humans do. But we must ensure it is only being used for comfort and convenience, not as human well-being. We must embrace the changes. However, the important fact is that the kind of change we are embracing must bring a positive outcome for the welfare of society and eventually of humanity.
